Dr. John P. Wilson

About Me

Dr. Wilson has completed 35 Ironman races and hundreds of others of various distances. He has competed in two Ironman World Championships and three Ironman 70.3 World Championships. He has been considered a true age grouper in triathlon for the past 25 years. His experiences in the sport have given him a unique, age-group perspective on the Ironman experience and how it correlates with everyday life. His journey in the sport is truly inspirational, offering a veteran the opportunity to relate to some of its unique aspects and, for those thinking about doing an Ironman, a realistic view of what to expect and experience throughout the journey. He has managed his time in triathlon while pursuing a career as a high school coach for 15 years, as a fitness center director of training services, and as a professor of Sports Management at Howard Payne University. He has been blessed with a wonderful wife of 33 years, Kimara, and three adult children: daughter Avery, son-in-law Ricardo, granddaughter Everly, son Camden, daughter-in-law Ivette, and another son, Brevin.
